Chiropody

What is a Chiropodist? Chiropodists specialize in the recognition, assessment, and treatment of foot and ankle conditions. Chiropodists provide a variety of medical services ranging from skin and nails, to orthotics and compression socks and even in office soft tissue surgeries. They aid in managing foot pain, helping patients gain mobility and maintaining healthy feet.

Chiropodists are recognized, regulated health professionals educated exclusively in the assessment and treatment of foot disorders.

Some of the services a Chiropodist can provide include:

  • General foot care and callus care

  • Diabetes related nail, callus, and wound care

  • Wart treatments

  • Fungal nail and skin treatments

  • Soft tissue surgery (ingrown toenails, warts)

  • Orthotics (flat feet, high arches)

  • Biomechanical assessments and Gait Analysis

  • Compression sock Therapy

  • Cortisone injections

Do I need a referral? No referral is needed to see a Chiropodist because we are primary health care providers.

Are Chiropodists covered by OHIP? In Ontario, Chiropodists do not bill OHIP. Services are covered by most third part insurance providers.
