Now offering Baseline Concussion Testing!

We are now implementing baseline testing according to the gold standard of standardized and validated testing. In our evaluation we will be using a computerized testing issued through ImPACT. Secondly we use the Sport Concussion Assessment Tool (3rd edition) which is a questionnaire and paper form. Lastly we have a proprioceptive test outlined by the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing

ImPACT

ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) is the first, most-widely used, and most scientifically validated computerized concussion evaluation system. ImPACT was developed to provide useful information to assist qualified practitioners in making sound return to play decisions following concussions.

Sport Concussion Assessment Tool 3

The SCAT3 is a standardized tool for evaluating injured athletes for concussion and can be used in athletes aged from 13 years and older. It supersedes the original SCAT and the SCAT2 published in 2005 and 2009, respectively 2. For younger persons, ages 12 and under, please use the Child SCAT3. The SCAT3 is designed
for use by medical professionals. Preseason baseline testing with the SCAT3 can be helpful for interpreting post-injury test scores.

BESS Test

The Balance Error Scoring System provides a portable, cost-effective, and objective method of assessing static postural stability. In the absence of expensive, sophisticated postural stability assessment tools, the BESS can be used to assess the effects of mild head injury on static postural stability. Information obtained from this clinical balance tool can be used to assist clinicians in making return to play decisions following mild
head injury.
